THE SIMPLIFIED VERSION:
1ST TIME SEIZURE < 6 MONTHS OR PROLONGED POST-ICTAL PHASE (GREATER THAN 2 HOURS): ADMIT TO CHIPS
1ST TIME SEIZURE, > 6 MONTHS, AND BACK TO BASELINE WITHIN 2 HOURS:
1) DISCHARGE WITH A PRESCRIPTION FOR DIASTAT
2) PRINT A COPY OF THE DISCHARGE INSTRUCTIONS
3) SEND A MESSAGE TO THE NEURO TEAM TO FACILITATE FOLLOW-UP.
