3rd Year Application Phase, UNC SOM Charlotte Campus – 30 students
ED Rotations/Clinical Experiences (Wares)
  1. Pulse Weekend (30 students each rotate one weekend in the ED)
  2. ED Shifts (5 ED shifts per 30 students – 150 shifts)
Simulation Curriculum (Wares)
  1. Annual Introduction to Acute Care (IAC) course – Four 4-hour courses taught to all UNC Charlotte campus students
  2. “Spring” and “Fall” course, 15 students/course, seven 4-hour teaching blocks per course 
Ultrasound Curriculum (Lewis)
  1. “Spring” and “Fall” course, 15 students/course, six 4-hour teaching blocks per course
  2. Student team representing Charlotte Campus at Annual National UME Ultrasound Competition
UNC SOM Charlotte Campus Application Phase (3rd year) Transition Week Curriculum (MacNeill, Lewis, Wares)
  1. Week-long course with lectures, H&P practice sessions, simulation, and hands-on workshops to assist students in their transition to the clinical setting
 
4th Year UNC SOM Charlotte Campus
  1. Number of students rotating through ED for all selectives/electives – up to 102 Students (including 55 AIs – capped)

  • ERMD 419 International Elective in Emergency Medicine (Dozois)
  • ERMD 420 Simulation Medicine Science of Medicine Selective (Wares)
